Tower Challenge-Matter

Read The Three Little Pigs.
Discuss the materials used and how they effected each house's outcome.
Discuss what the pigs could have done with each material to make it stronger-test it out!

Tower Challenge:

Create a tower that is within one inch of 20". 

The tower must withstand 3 blows of the bellows. 

You can only use the following materials:

crayons, pipe cleaners, play-doh, craft sticks

You can work with a partner or by yourself

 Students recorded their findings as they worked. Definitely a lesson in patience and resilience-many towers fell over! Students had to start over and use their experience to make the new tower stronger.

Unintentional outcomes: we had to keep making A LOT of play-doh. The kiddos helped me; yet another lesson about changing matter and chemical changes.
